We've Got Great Chemistry!

Hello! Just a quick post today with another card that hadn't been blogged yet. This was from a recent PC magazine call, the call for guy cards that was for an upcoming special issues that's all about guy cards. I made this one with the "Love Potion" set from PTI. I love that set!

A few buttons in the corner and some washi on the lower LH corner (hidden behind the watermark-sorry!) made fun accents.

Have a stellar day!

Supply Challenge Cards: "Friend"

Hi scrappy friends! I just have been so swamped I haven't had time to make anything with the boys home... but it seems I do have a slew of photos in my library that you haven't seen yet, so I thought I'd write some posts up for them! These posts should take us through June.... hoping in July that my mojo returns and I get better at managing my time! ha! ;) Anyway all these cards in this series were sent in for the "supply challenge" call that Paper Crafts Mag was having in April I think.... I keep working towards that goal of getting published, not there yet, but I think if I just keep trying, I'll get there sooner or later! :) And I know that even regularly published designers have those cards that don't get picked up, so that's how I choose to look at mine, not as a failure, but as a solid attempt! :)

This card was for the "basic supplies" challenge, I managed to use wood, cork, metal, AND felt on this card. I used Paper Smooches dies and stamps, outside of the notebook paper die which is TCP. The wood is one of those veneer sheets and I used a sparkly glitter paper for the clip on the clipboard.

Speaking of friends, here's some neighborhood peeps and I at a cool wine tasting place in LoDo (downtown Denver). These gals actually purchased this tasting at the school auction, and even though I was at my sister's wedding during the auction, they invited me to go anyway! It was really cool. the place was called D'Vine Wine/Wild Women Wine and that had such fun, fruity wines! We got a tour and had so much fun tasting wines and then sharing a few bottles of course. :) I love my town, I'm so blessed to live where I do.

I hope you like my card! Be back soon with some more things for you to see.

Supply Challenge Cards: "You Make Me Smile"

Hi scrappy friends! I just have been so swamped I haven't had time to make anything with the boys home... but it seems I do have a slew of photos in my library that you haven't seen yet, so I thought I'd write some posts up for them! This card was for the washi tape challenge, I covered a piece of cardstock in washi and die cut clouds from it. The hills were washi covered card stock die cut at the tops to make hills. The sentiment and dies for that are TCP. The cloud dies are Lil' Inker, and the "hill is created with the TCP die from the Toppers cutUps. The washi is (I believe.... don't quote me on this...) MME and Target?
Well that's all for em today crafty peeps, be back soon with some more fun cards! :)

Supply Challenge Cards: "Wish"

Hi scrappy friends! I just have been so swamped I haven't had time to make anything with the boys home... but it seems I do have a slew of photos in my library that you haven't seen yet, so I thought I'd write some posts up for them! So this one was for the "basic supplies" challenge. I used eyelets and gems to create the Big Dipper Constellation on this cute card. The gems are nestled inside the eyelets for a little sparkle. I really love the way this one turned out :) Do you like it? I used a TCP sentiment and a sparkly clear button for an accent. The die used is Paper Smooches.
I will be back soon with more fun goodies! :)

Say "Happy Father's Day" with 3 different cards!

Hi all! thought I'd peek ya a couple of good ol' FD cards today! Seemed appropriate since it is Father's Day and all.... ;) these were cards that weren't picked up for publication, but that is all good, they were for two different past PC Mag calls....  I think I made the ruler one last Fall.

Sent this one to my Dad....

Gave this one to my stepdad......

This one went to my FIL with a "Happy Father's Day" sentiment stamped inside. Seemed appropriate even though it wasn't actually a "Father's Day" specific card.

Hubby got this card from before, I lost it and never ended up giving it to him, then found it again, and today just felt like the perfect time to actually give it to him!  :) My sons and I ordered him a biking jersey and gloves for a gift. I hope he likes them.

have a fabulous Father's day and give some love to all the Dads in your world!

Ian's Continuation

Hi all! Just been crazy with all the boys home (typical summer, I guess!) but I did have some things to share with you! A few weeks ago, my son (who honestly still seems like he should only be about 4!) ;) had his elementary school Continuation ceremony. We live in a small town with an *amazing* PTO and a super active community involvement. So, to say Continuation is a big deal might be a bit of an understatement! We didn't go as "big" as many parents chose to go, but Ian wanted a suit, and I essentially wept for 2 days! During the ceremony, they flash a "then and now" slide of each kid on the big screen. Here's the baby pic I  sent in of Ian for that, isn't he just the cutest little peanut? He was the sweetest baby.... I can't believe he's 12 and he'll be at middle school in the Fall.

Anyway, as with any celebration around here, some crafty goodness works its way in. I made part of his gift, a medals board to hold all his race medals. I've seen these on etsy for around 30$. Mine cost the price of a pack of cup hooks since I already had paint, vinyl, and a board. ;) I personalized it with his name. :)

I made him a super quick card.... I'm not honestly thrilled with it, but burgundy and gold are the school colors and I was running very late by the point I sat down to make it. It's ok, but just not my favorite card.

I also decided to try my hand at fancy cookies a'la one of my fave Pinterest Boards. I just LOVE gorgeous cookies! Mine turned out pretty cute, but I'm definitely an amateur! ;) Making the royal icing was a huge pain-in-the-tushie, and the "burgundy" color I got to tint the icing turned out more pink than burgundy, as well as making a huge mess! LOL, let's just say I won't be giving up paper crafting for baking anytime soon! That will remain solely a hobby, ha! ;)
Here's a few pics of me and my handsome boy.... I am wearing heels in this pic, and it really won't be long before he is taller than me. As a side note, I didn't realize this dress makes me look pregnant, and will probably be getting rid of it after seeing this! ;) A photo is worth a thousand words, right?  LOL

and that is all for me, sorry for these LONG absences, I'll be around when I can be! Miss you blog friends! :)

Welcome Little Eli! (TCPTUESJUNE13)

Hey all! I am a proud new Auntie! My little brother and his wife had their precious baby boy, Eli, last Tuesday! I went to see them Friday, he is so cute. I actually had made this card for a contest and then realized that baby cards weren't being called for, LOL, so I decided to save it for him. :)
Isn't he precious? The flash made me close my eyes, but not him! :)

I also made him these cute onesies! We had already bought a stroller and some other clothes for him, but I did want to do something small to welcome him to the world! This was a super fun, easy and inexpensive project, if you are going to need a baby gift anytime soon. :) Here's what I started out with: onesies from Dollar Tree (1$ each x 4), clearance iron-ons from JoAnn Fabrics (50 cents each x 3), and a box of Rit dye (3$).

And here's what I ended up with! 4 super cute tie dyed onesies, with some rock n' roll flair! This is super appropriate as my brother is a musician. Then I found these cute socks at Target to match (1.25 each x2).  Total cost was around 11$ for 4 onesies and two pair of socks, plus they're handmade and super cute! I did them all in different sizes, too.

The card is for this month's TCP Tuesday Challenge! Here's a little about the challenge from the Top Cat, Alma:

"Last month was about Clean and Simple. This month is about embellishments. Layers and goodies are the key to this challenge. Encrusted is a word that comes to mind. Can you heavy up on the embellishments while still keeping the focus on the message?"
Using TCP stamps and CutUps are highly encouraged! We'd love to see you use the TCP CutUps for your embellishments, and maybe some Divine Twine or seam binding?

Here's my card again:
I used Sock It To Me, the Lock and Heart cling rubber background stamp, and the Toppers CutUps to create the little flag at the top. I also used Build a Bingo, and Simply Said.

If you want to play with us at The Cat's Pajamas this month, you can add your "encrusted" card to the linky on the sidebar here. You have until the end of June to play! The winner will be named "Swanky Stamper" for June and will get all kinds of free goodness and to play along with the Cat Pack at our next release. Hope you can join in all the fun. :) See you back here soon!

Just Saying Hello (TCPTUESJUNE13)

Hi all! Sorry so long between posts, we are in that chaotic end-of-the-school-year time, which just happened to coincide with 2 races for the boys and my first-ever triathlon on Sunday! :) This mama swam, biked, ran, and shaved almost two minutes off the swim time I had last year when I did the relay instead of the whole race.I am so happy it went well, I have worked really hard this year towards the goal of doing this race, which having never really been an athletic person was kind of a huge deal for me! I am so grateful for my wonderful friends and family who truly encouraged me, trained with me, supported me, and were the absolute best. I'm a very lucky gal, I tell you... The race happened to be an adult race followed by a kids race, so after I got up at 445am, and did the course myself, I then spent the following 4 hours outside in the sun pinging back and forth between the pool, transition area, run course, and finish line to cheer on my kids! Life of a mom, I tell you! We all went out to celebrate afterwards, and by the time we got home (around 3pm) I was bone tired! Here's a pic.... :)

And today marks the beginning of a NEW month, and a new TCP Tuesday Challenge as well! Last month's challenge was all about Clean And Simple, this challenge is the exact opposite!
A few words from Alma: "Last month was about Clean and Simple. This month is about embellishments. Layers and goodies are the key to this challenge. Encrusted is a word that comes to mind. Can you heavy up on the embellishments while still keeping the focus on the message?

Using TCP stamps and CutUps are highly encouraged! We'd love to see you use the TCP CutUps for your embellishments, and maybe some Divine Twine or seam binding?
Additionally, if you pop over to the TCP Sale Page, you will see that all the adorable Ou Ou Kids are on clearance HALF OFF! Ack, they are so stinkin' cute! You should most definitely snatch a few up before you can't get them anymore. So, since TCP is saying goodbye to these cuties, I thought I'd use my June TCP cards to say goodbye to them as well. I used "Warm Fuzzies" on this card.

Keeping the "encrusted" theme in mind, I decided to layer up my card with 2 patterned papers and loads of CutUps and some gems, etc. I used the following CutUps: Heart Swirl, Toppers, and Lacy Floral Doily. The papers are MME.

Love this kind of card! I am a fan of lots of layers, pattern, color, and interest. :) I hope you like it too, and I hope you'll come play with us at The Cat's Pajamas! Linky will be on the sidebar, and we are always chatting and having fun and inspiration for you on our Splitcoaststampers Forum.

Hope you have a fabulous week! I have some fun things I have made but not shared yet, so I will be back soon! :)
